Mr. Nobel Speaks at People to People
Conference at Georgetown University
On July 2,
NSHSS Chair Claes Nobel and Mary Eisenhower, granddaughter of
President Dwight Eisenhower and CEO of People to People, met
with over 400 students participating in People to People
programs in Gaston Hall at Georgetown University in
Washington, DC. High school students in the pre-med program
and pre-law program joined over 200 middle school students
from the World Leadership Forum program to hear these two
dignitaries share stories about their families, and to learn
what they can do around the world to help promote peace and
responsible citizenship. The students came from across the
United States and 14 countries. After the speeches, students
asked questions of Ms. Eisenhower and Mr. Nobel in a town hall
meeting format. The program ended with a reception allowing
the students to meet each other and to meet individually with
Mr. Nobel and Ms. Eisenhower. |

Scholar's Day
NSHSS celebrated its
signature event, Scholar's Day, on May 1 in the Caucus Room of
the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.
Advisory board members and guests gathered to honor and
recognize over 300 members, including several scholarship
recipients and student guest speakers. Mr. Nobel addressed the
group with a stirring keynote speech in the historic Caucus
Room. Advisory Board members also met with the staff to review
the year and strategize for our upcoming year. The event was
held in conjunction with the National Scholarship Providers
Association activities kicking off National Scholarship
Month.
Make plans to attend next year's Scholar's Day
celebration. Details on upcoming events will be posted on the
website in the fall. | The Hon.
Jack Buechner, President & CEO of
Presidential
Classroom, congratulates NSHSS members and Advisory Board members
on Scholar's Day in the U.S. Senate Caucus Room.
