Brandy Rood
Brandy Rood is in her 22nd year as Theatre Director at Humble High School. She holds bachelor's degrees in both Theatre and Spanish and graduated from the University of Houston with an MFA in Theatre. Mrs. B has appeared on Houston stages in a wide range of roles and has directed plays at various theaters in Houston and Austin.
Mrs. Rood takes her own experiences in the theatre and uses them in her role as lead director. She enjoys teaching her students how to channel their creative spirit into acting, directing, playwriting and makeup. She derives so much joy every year in introducing her students to a variety of traditions that create a tight-knit community of thespians-including the annual 24-Hour Theatre Project, the collaboration with CTE on the annual ER Certification Day, the Varsity play production in May, and many weekends spent together attending plays. In addition to all of the customary theatre instruction, Mrs. Rood is the Thespian Troupe Leader for her Theatre students, and she has also created an award-winning internationally ranked Slam Poetry team.
Clubs and extracurricular activities allow students to develop leadership skills and find ways to contribute meaningfully to their community. Club advisors and sponsors often support these clubs with their own funds or through fundraising activities. To support our outstanding educators and the clubs they oversee, NSHSS is giving two (2) high school educators a $500 grant to help provide additional opportunities to their student clubs.
