Melissa Rowe received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and worked in the chemistry industry for 12 years. She received her teaching certificate through the Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy at Northwest Georgia Resident Educator Summative Assessment. She has continued her training by obtaining the STEM Endorsement and Gifted Endorsement, attending the Rural Teacher Teaching Initiative, Georgia Tech's Frugal Academy training, and the Georgia Aquarium-International SeaKeepers Professional Development. Melissa has been a teacher for eight years and has taught gifted, honors, general, and inclusion sections of Physical Science and Chemistry. She is a member of the Georgia Science Teachers Association, National Science Teachers Association, Environmental Education Alliance, American Association of Chemistry Teachers, and American Chemistry Society. She has presented at the National Science Teachers Conference, Northwest Georgia RESA STEM Forum, and the Georgia Science Teachers Association Conference. She is the Chattooga High School Science Department Chair. She volunteers within her school system to support and promote science to students of all ages, including Science Camp, STEM Night, and Science Night each year.

Grants Awarded in 2024: School Supplies Grant

NSHSS is always looking to find ways to support our network of educators, especially those who are constantly looking to support their students. To help offset the financial burden, NSHSS is awarding fifteen (15) high school educators $500 grants to help provide additional opportunities to their students and classrooms.
