Shania Valentine
Shania Valentine has been an educator for the past seven years and holds a Masters's Degree in Indigenous Education. She has taught English Language Arts and a rigorous college preparation program called AVID at Page High School. She sponsors multiple academic programs, including the AVID Ambassadors and Upward Bound. She specializes in culturally responsive teaching and seeks to break down barriers for students, establish equitable practices for learning, and create opportunities for students to find success after high school. What she loves most about teaching is the journey of self-discovery and fulfillment that students experience through their learning and seeing their growth culminate in their final steps across the stage at graduation. Outside of school, she loves devoting time to her dog and cats, reading, writing, and traveling.
Clubs and extracurricular activities allow students to develop leadership skills and find ways to contribute meaningfully to their community. Club advisors and sponsors often support these clubs with their own funds or through fundraising activities. To support our outstanding educators and the clubs they oversee, NSHSS is giving two (2) high school educators a $500 grant to help provide additional opportunities to their student clubs.
