VR 2025

It is no secret that the paradigm has shifted in the way we interact with technology, or how technology interacts with us. From GPS-mapping, Google searches, finding jobs, or even just writing a book report, the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is very present in our daily lives.

Given this ever-evolving technology, it is important to understand how to interact with it, especially as a student. In some ways, AI is creating an easier world where information and solutions to problems are solved for us instantaneously. But in other, more complicated ways, AI is creating new, never-before-seen hurdles for students to overcome. That is why we at NSHSS have decided to help students better understand, utilize, and also minimize the effects of AI’s impact on their education. We want every student to succeed in their own way, no matter what changes in the world around them.

The Role of a Lifetime

Every single student going to school today was born after the advent of the internet, which means that there has literally never been a day where the internet and its many functions were not a part of their lives. Since the birth of the modern computer, to now, and beyond, the rate of AI’s advancement in our lives has and will continue to accelerate beyond what anyone can imagine. For instance, if you book a hotel, AI is helping to facilitate the communication between your banking information, your calendar, the calendar at the hotel, the hotel managers, and the hotel’s billing department—all done instantaneously. AI is tracking your purchases online, as well as the news stories you tend to read, or even scroll through. AI has the power to help collect, disseminate, and organize millions of bits of information a second, which can consist of nearly your entire life. And the life of your education is just as impacted.

The Education Initiative

When it comes to education, it only works if you work at it. The internet completely changed the way we interact with information, both by how quickly and simply we learn something new, to the type of information we are actually receiving and processing. But education is not just about learning a few simple facts and regurgitating them, it’s about developing and applying multidisciplinary strategies to reading, writing, mathematics, and critical thinking, in a vast array of subjects. When students interact with the efficient and streamlined world of AI, they have a higher chance of taking a backseat to their own education, by letting a machine do some of that critical-thinking work for them. But there are ways to circumvent this problem.

By relying on your teachers, your books, and your own incredible brains, you can still use AI to help you learn, just so long as it only assists you to a certain point. It’s like using a calculator on a math test vs. trying to write the problem out yourself. If you are presented with a term paper, a science experiment, or even a debate for a history class, you must spend the time and energy on learning and disseminating the material yourself, and not turn to AI to summarize the information for you. Let AI be a tool in your toolbox, not the workman. You must take your own initiative in your education. For our part, we have developed some pretty good alternatives to working alongside AI.

Meeting in the Middle

At NSHSS, we strive to stay up to speed with the ways that education and technology are changing. That is why we have partnered with such schools as Harvard, Stanford, and MIT to help better integrate this AI technology into the lives of students just like you. We have two amazing new programs which are built to work with AI, by training students on how to use it, and all the ways it can be used. Let’s take a closer look at each program to find out how they can help you advance in your own program:

  • Inspirit AI is a program developed by graduate students at Harvard and Stanford who use AI for social good. This program is designed to teach high school students all the ways that AI can be used for the common good, by focusing on building an AI-based project that can have a positive impact in their environment.

  • Veritas AI is a different, more complex way of learning about AI. Run by Harvard graduates, this program takes a multidisciplinary approach to teaching you the complicated world of AI and its impact on the world around us. Everything from health-care, climate change, sports, finance, and even mental health are covered in this program. And the best part is, you get a front row seat to AI’s leading advancement in areas that truly impact humanity. But we didn’t stop there!

  • The NSHSS Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Scholarship is a new and exciting opportunity for three lucky students who are as committed to learning about AI as we are. This scholarship was designed to support those students who are passionate and devoted to the world of AI, and who show true innovation in how to best work with it. This scholarship is just the latest in our pursuit of mastering such a complicated and ever-present force in our lives. If you are interested in learning more about this scholarship, and its requirements, then visit our website and check how you can apply to become an award winner.
