But more importantly, we want to unpack exactly how all these opportunities can help distinguish your college applications and resume for years to come.
Honor Societies
A good first question is ‘Do honor societies look good on resumes?’ The immediate answer is yes. But let’s unpack exactly why that is a bit more in-depth. It’s important to understand what an honor society can provide that a regular school-based program cannot. An honor society allows students many chances to travel, network, and flex skills like public speaking and leadership they otherwise would not get before college. Honor societies such as NSHSS are designed specifically around the student's interests and provide opportunities like travel, hosting events, and campus tours, all with the students in mind.
As you will see below, these events and tours can be an amazing chance for you as the student to meet people you would never have the chance to otherwise and see places around the world you never thought possible. We constantly expand our resources for students, allowing them access to scholarship opportunities, internships, and experiences they could not find anywhere else. This level of engagement on the part of the student, with the backing of a national organization behind them, can stand out on college applications and job resumes for years to come. But let us go even further and unpack some of the many ways NSHSS can help you on your path toward success. Be sure to check out the following blog, "Does NSHSS Look Good for College Applications?"
NSHSS Scholarships
Regarding benefits, the NSHSS Scholarships offer financial rewards to a student and the recognition of achievement for a particular topic or cause related to the student's passion or academic and community involvement. Earning a scholarship is a fantastic way to stand out to college admissions representative. Although most scholarships are primarily utilized for funding your college tuition and your room and board, our scholarships can also help support you during summer internships and semesters spent studying abroad. NSHSS and its partners provide more than $2.5 million in scholarship funds annually and are designed for any kind of student. Check out our NSHSS Scholarship FAQ page for tips and common questions for applying for our scholarships.
Leadership Programs
A great way to stand out is by demonstrating diverse leadership experience. Leaders inspire others and work hard to achieve goals. At NSHSS, we prepare students to become future leaders with three leadership programs tailored to every stage of their journey, helping them showcase their ability to inspire and motivate others.
NSHSS Ambassador Program is for high school students eager to support their peers by engaging prospective NSHSS members through events and social media. NSHSS Collegiate Council is for college students who want to guide high schoolers entering college and want to continue their NSHSS journey in an impactful way. NSHSS Fellows Program allows NSHSS alumni and who are also career professionals to give back by guiding younger generations. Through NSHSS’s global alumni network, high school and college students can connect with post-grads for valuable insights, professional connections, and opportunities.
