Leadership remains an important quality that many NSHSS scholars carry with them from high school to college, demonstrating their exemplary commitment to their communities, schools, and workplaces through the various ways they serve. NSHSS sees this commitment and commits to NSHSS scholars in return by finding opportunities to reward emerging leaders for their leadership qualities and activities.
In 2019, NSHSS would like to recognize a student who has made a significant and positive impact on their community through leadership activities and initiatives by offering the NSHSS Emerging Leader Award. This award will support such a student with a USD $1,000 scholarship to be applied to the Fall 2019 semester at any 4-year accredited university.
The NSHSS Emerging Leader Award award is sponsored by a former NSHSS scholar and current President of the NSHSS Fellows Executive Board Morgan Vazquez. Morgan proved to be an emerging leader herself when she was in high school and college. She is a 2009 NSHSS scholarship recipient who has remained actively engaged with NSHSS since she graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University. Morgan demonstrated leadership when she served as an NSHSS Student Council member, during which time she spoke and provided advice to college-bound students. She also represented NSHSS during Nobel Week at the University of Stockholm. Morgan is currently a Vice President - Senior Recruiter of Campus Strategy & Pipeline Development at BNY Mellon in New York City.
