NSHSS Opens 2020 Virtual Valedictorian Scholarship for High School Seniors
Amid a current health and economic crisis, all things surrounding academic activities and events are either being postponed or canceled. This includes high school graduation ceremonies and the honor and recognition given to high achieving students.
In turn, 2020's high school valedictorians will miss the opportunity to voice their messages and bid their classmates farewell. In an effort to preserve this honorable tradition, NSHSS is offering a 2020 Virtual Valedictorian Scholarship to ten high school seniors. In addition to a college scholarship award of $1,000, each Virtual Valedictorian will have the opportunity to not only share their message with their classmates, but also with the world.
According to James Lewis, NSHSS President and Co-founder, "Now more than ever, students need to have ways to celebrate and be recognized for their outstanding achievements. They deserve a way to voice their thoughts during this uncertain time, and our new scholarship gives them that platform."
The Virtual Valedictorian Scholarship is open to both NSHSS members and non-members, and applicants do not have to be named class valedictorian. To apply, students must be high school seniors and include a three-to-five-minute video of their speech, along with their high school transcript and a headshot. The deadline is May 15, 2020.
