Yale Young Global Scholars: Preparing Students for University (Two-Week Summer Program)

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is the most globally diverse academic enrichment program in the world, with students participating from over 150 countries and 50 U.S. states. Taking place this summer, YYGS emphasizes an open, exploratory, and collaborative approach to learning with two-week sessions in STEM, the social sciences, and humanities. The program distributes over $3 Million USD in need-based financial aid to U.S. domestic and international students.

Elena Gosalvez Blanco, Director, Yale Young Global Scholars

Elena Gosalvez-Blanco is the Director of the Yale Young Global Scholars Program (YYGS) which includes oversight of the Yale Young African Scholars Program and YYGS-Beijing. Prior to coming to Yale, Elena was Director and Associate Director of the Exeter Summer program at Phillips Exeter Academy for seven years. She was also a Modern Languages Instructor and a dormitory head for ten years at that same prep school. Before finding her passion in education, Elena was an executive editor for the international publishing house Grupo Planeta and a freelance literary translator. Born and raised in Madrid, Spain, Elena graduated from Madrid’s Complutense University with a degree in Philosophy and Education. She then pursued a Masters of Writing, Literature and Publishing at Emerson College and Masters of Spanish Literature at Arizona State University.
