Christopher Carnes
Hi, my name is Christopher Carnes and I am from Martin County, Florida where I am a senior in South Fork High School’s International Baccalaureate program and Student Government Association. I currently serve as chairperson for the Keep Florida Beautiful Youth Council running state-wide education and environmental opportunities, including our new initiative: Trash or Treat Candy Wrapper Recycling. Additionally, I am on the board of directors of a local community non-profit, Students4H2O, which is composed of members K-12 educating the community about how to #ThinkGlobally,ActLocally. Through this organization, I have helped lead the way with several initiatives in my community and globally with events such as Waterfest, the largest water conservation event on the East Coast, the formation of a Global Goal video competition called GoalFest, and leading the fundraising to build a well at Majork Dungar Primary School through Water For South Sudan. I also teach fine arts and leadership skills to students 5 and up at Visionary School of Arts. This has allowed me to use my art to spark a conversation within the community on global issues. I am honored to be named a 2021 James W. Lewis Global Leader.
