Michael Wu

Michael Wu is an honors student at George Mason University, where he is majoring in Government and International Politics. Michael currently serves as a Youth Ambassador for Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) Vote, a non-partisan organization that promotes voter education and registration on college campuses. Passionate about fostering fair elections, Michael has written voter education content for the social media start-up Digital4Good; produced informative profiles of candidates and issues up for federal, state and local elections as a Political Data Intern with We Vote; conducted research as a legal intern for a local non-profit; and served as a poll worker, poll watcher, recount observer and GOTV canvasser for numerous elections. Michael has been recognized in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for his GOTV efforts in his high school hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Michael enjoys collaborating with peers and has mentored junior interns and prospective college applicants, and will serve during the 2024-2025 academic year as a public affairs intern with the U.S. Department of State in the Virtual Student Foreign Service, where he will work with international students to enhance their English communications skills and foster cultural exchange. 

NSHSS is awarding students who demonstrate an active commitment for spreading awareness/education on the importance of voting in their community.
