Our commitment to World Betterment

World Betterment Statement Image

Since our founding in 2002, by Claes Nobel, a senior member of the Nobel Prize family, our mission has been to support all youth in their pursuit of education to better themselves and the world. Our membership-based organization welcomes any upstanding student who meets any one of our eight objective membership criteria. Our diverse and inclusive network of members, who are 60% BIPOC, 40% White, and 24% first generation in their families to attend college, spans 2 million members in 170 countries and 26,000 high schools around the world. We offer fee waivers for our lifetime membership to eligible high school students who may be experiencing financial hardship.

At NSHSS, we believe that equal rights are fundamental to our humanity. Our staff and board embody diversity and unity and recognize the importance of our mission aligning with the principles of inclusivity, equity, and respect. We are committed to supporting the issues of inequality faced by historically marginalized communities, including BIPOC, AAPI, LGBTQ+ individuals, and female leaders, including women of color. Over the last several years, we have allocated additional scholarship funds and staff resources to further support these areas. Our commitment to progress is steadfast, and we remain committed to showcasing the work of our members as they effect positive change in their communities. We invite you to join us as we continue to learn, grow, and support one another in our collective journey toward a more just and equitable world.
